Abstract
Gall bladder volvulus is a rare disease that arises from the anatomical anomaly of gall bladder and liver, yet the etiology has not been revealed. Since Wendel et al. first reported the case, about 400 cases were reported outside the country, however 12 cases were reported in Korea since 1969. Because of lack of recognition of gall bladder volvulus and its atypical symptoms and clinical examinations, an accurate preoperative diagnosis has not yet done. Along with the review of gall bladder volvulus, we propose a case of 83-year old female who was admitted for right upper quadrant pain on April, 2004, intraoperatively diagnosed as gall bladder volvulus, and successfully treated.
